CBS News is reporting concerns regarding the over use of OTC heartburn medications such as Prilosec and Nexium (link below).  The report stated that people who use proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) have a 20 to 50% higher risk of chronic kidney disease compared to nonusers.  For many these products are very useful but it is very important to follow directions and not use them for an extended amount of time.
